BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team is slated to return to action this weekend at the 2013 LSU Tiger Golf Classic, March 22-24. The tournament will be played at the University Club in Baton Rouge, La., and is a three day 54-hole stroke-play event.
The Wildcats lineup will feature seniors Ashleigh Albrecht and Betsie Johnson, junior Liz Breed and freshmen Cylia Damerau and Sarah Harris. Senior Heather Lott will compete in the tournament as an individual.
“We are looking forward to going back to LSU this weekend,” head coach Golda Johansson Borst said. “We have been to this event in the past couple of years and the team is getting more and more comfortable on this golf course. It is also helpful that we played at Augusta State this past weekend which helped prepare us for LSU’s firm and fast greens.”
The Wildcats placed tied for ninth in their last tournament at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate, where they were led by Johnson who had her best finish of the season tying for 19th.
UK will be joined by 13 schools in the tournament, including Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Missouri, N.C. State, Ole Miss, TCU, Tennessee, Tulane, Louisiana-Monroe, UNC-Wilmington and Wake Forest.
The LSU Tiger Golf Classic is the third of four tournaments the Wildcats will compete in the spring season. The first round will begin on Friday at 9:30 a.m. ET, with select tee times off of holes No. 1 and 10. The second and third rounds are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday with a start time of 9:30 a.m..
