LEXINGTON, Ky. — After posting a 1-0 win over Georgia State on Sunday in the season lidlifter, the Kentucky men’s soccer team will hit the road for its first test away from the UK Soccer Complex, traveling to face East Tennessee State on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.
Kentucky (1-0) posted a 1-0 season-opening win over ETSU on Sunday, getting the first career goal from senior Brad Doliner, a defender for three years before making the start vs. GSU at forward. Doliner’s diving header in the 86th minute proved the difference as UK kept a clean sheet with sophomore keeper Callum Irving working his second career shutout.
The Wildcats enter the second year of the Johan Cedergren era coming off their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2003. UK returns preseason All-America defender Steven Perinovic and 2012 All-Conference USA honorees Tyler Riggs and Brad Doliner.
ETSU (0-1) suffered a 1-0 loss at South Carolina on Friday in its season opener, with the Cocks getting a game-winning tally in the 25th minute. ETSU posted a 10-6-4 record in 2012, totaling 31 goals in 20 games including a sparkling 6-1-1 record at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
