LEXINGTON, Ky.- University of Kentucky women’s tennis player Nadia Ravita has been selected for the 2013 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., November 7-10.

“It is an honor for Nadia to be invited to this prestigious tournament,” head coach Carlos Drada said. “I am convinced that this is the start of great things to come into our program.”

Ravita, ranked 26th nationally, is only the second Kentucky player to receive a bid to the prestigious tournament since Kim Coventry fell in the first round to Baylor’s Zuzana Cerna in 2005.

The Jakarta, Indonesia native led the Wildcats in the No. 1 singles slot, boasting a 20-5 record in her historic freshman spring season including 10-3 in Southeastern Conference matches.

“This invitation is also a reminder not only to Nadia, but to the whole team that hard work, structure and patience pay off in the long run,” Drada said.

Selected as an at large participant, Ravita has already shown improvement to begin her sophomore year. She has a 6-2 record so far in her fall season, including a win over No. 10 Breaunna Addison of University of Texas at Austin.

Ravita made it to the finals in the main draw singles at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships before ultimately falling to Vanderbilt’s Georgina Sellyn. Kentucky is one of only five SEC schools who has players participating in the tournament.

“I’m proud to be the next UK player to go to this tournament. I’m excited to represent UK in New York and will do my best while there,” Ravita said.

The tournament will take place Nov. 7-10 and will feature elite players from all over the country in a 32-player singles draw and a 20- team doubles draw. The championship will wrap up the fall season for
