LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s golf sophomore Cylia Damerau has been named Southeastern Conference Co-Golfer of the Week, it was announced Wednesday afternoon by the conference office. Damerau shares the honor with Mississippi State’s Rica Tse.

The Cham, Switzerland, native helped lead Kentucky to its third top five finish through five tournaments this past weekend at the UCF Challenge. The Wildcats finished fourth as a team in Orlando, while Damerau tied for seventh with a 54-hole score of two-under par, 214. It is her first top 10 finish of the season and second career. Damerau becomes the first Wildcat in program history to earn SEC weekly honors.

Damerau’s three-day score of 214 is her lowest round in a Wildcat uniform. She recorded even-par or better rounds all three days of the tournament (72-72-70). As a team, Kentucky posted a season-best team score of 866 (+2).

During the final round of play, Damerau recorded a team-high six birdies during her two-under par, 70, round of golf. Her final round of 70 tied a season best which she also shot in the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate in October.

The Wildcats return to the course March 7-9 for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. For more information on the University of Kentucky women’s golf team please visit UKathletics.com and follow on Twitter @UKWomensGolf.
