LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s soccer head coach Jon Lipsitz, who will enter his sixth season at the helm of the women’s soccer program at Kentucky announced the 2014 spring schedule, which will include seven matches during March and April’s training period.
Five of the seven teams that Kentucky will play in the spring made the NCAA Tournament in 2013, in Illinois, Morehead State, Marquette and Indiana, with two of them advancing to the second round (Indiana and Illinois), and one of them hosting, in Indiana.
The slate of games will begin on Wednesday, March 12, as Kentucky will host the Lipscomb Bison at 6 p.m. ET at the newly-renovated UK Soccer Complex. The Wildcats will host all three of its home matches at the UK Soccer Complex, which has undergone massive renovations since the beginning of the 2013 season.
After starting at home, Kentucky will travel for two straight matches, playing Southeastern Conference foe Tennessee on Sat., March 29 at Noon followed by Illinois in Champaign, Ill., at 11 a.m. ET on April 6. UK will also play Marquette and Northwestern when they travel north to play Illinois. Tennessee and Kentucky do not face each other in the 2014 season as part of the newly-constructed schedule of the SEC with each team playing an 11-game league schedule.
The final two games in Lexington will be Wed., April 16 at 7 p.m. ET against Morehead State, followed by the spring finale against Indiana on Sun., April 27 at 5 p.m. ET in Lexington.
