LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following a second place finish at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate to begin the spring season, the University of Kentucky men’s golf team will look to carry the momentum over to the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Los Cabos, Mexico. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will begin Sunday, March 2 and wrap up Tuesday, March 4.
Last Time Out:
UK will look to continue its streak of top five finishes after claiming a second place finish at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate last week. Senior Stephen Powers led the way in Mobile with a season-best three-round score of three-under par, 213, to finish tied for third. Powers posted back-to-back rounds of 69 to finish the tournament after an opening round 75. Junior David Snyder claimed his third top 20 finish of the season, tying for 14th at two-over par, 218. Senior Ben Stow and junior Will Bishop both tied for 25th at five-over par, 221.
Stow leads the team with a season scoring average of 72.73. Senior Stephen Powers ranks second on the team with a 73.00 scoring average and senior Cody Martin following close behind at 73.33. Stow and Powers are tied for the team-lead with two top-10 finishes this season.
About the Querencia Cabo Collegiate:
This marks the second consecutive year Kentucky will participate in the Querencia Cabo Collegiate. The Wildcats brought home a second place team finish in the 2012 event, highlighted by Bishop’s individual title.
Eighteen holes will be played Sunday through Tuesday with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. ET, while the final 18 holes will begin Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. ET. The course will have three different yardages over the three rounds, all playing to a par-71.

Joining the Wildcats in Mexico are No. 1 Alabama, No. 15 Arkansas, No. 16 Houston, No. 18 Vanderbilt, Abilene Christian, Baylor, Coastal Carolina, Lamar, LSU, Ole Miss, SMU, Tennessee-Chattanooga and UT Arlington.

“Cabo will be our first big challenge for the spring season,” said UK head coach Brian Craig. “The field is excellent in this premiere event, but we are up for the challenge. We have been training hard in the new facility and are ready to compete again after a very solid start in Mobile.”
