LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team will look to get back on track this week when the Wildcats compete in the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, S.C. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will begin Sunday, March 23 and wrap up Tuesday, March 25.
Last Time Out:
For the first time this season Kentucky finished a tournament outside of the top five with an 11th place finish at the Schenkel Invitational last weekend in Statesboro, Ga. The Wildcats finished the three-day tournament with a team score of 18-over par, 882. Senior Stephen Powers and junior David Snyder recorded top 10 finishes in the individual standings. Powers collected a two-under par, 214, to tie for sixth place, while Snyder finished just a stroke behind at one-under par, 215, and tied for 10th.
Powers leads the team with a season scoring average of 72.71. Senior Ben Stow ranks second on the team with a 73.10 scoring average and Snyder following close behind at 73.14. Stow and Powers are tied for the team-lead with three top 10 finishes.
About the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate:
This marks the 10th consecutive year Kentucky will participate in the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. The Wildcats tied for 10th at the 2013 event, while Kentucky’s best finish came in 2005 when the team won the team title.
Eighteen holes will be played Sunday through Tuesday with fixed tee times on holes No. 1 and No. 10. Tee times for each day begin at 10 a.m. ET on Sunday, 9 a.m. on Monday and 8 a.m. on Tuesday. The course will feature a par-72, 7,282-yard setup.

Joining the Wildcats in South Carolina are Auburn, Akron, Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, Duke, Georgia Regents, Missouri, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, South Carolina-Aiken, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wake Forest.

“We have been really consistent all year but had our first slip up at the Schenkel (Invitational) last week,” said UK head coach Brian Craig. “Simply put, we need a bounce back at this week’s Hootie at Bulls Bay event. I believe in this team and can’t wait to get back out and compete. We will be ready.”
