LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Grace Trimble of the University of Kentucky women’s tennis team was selected to the 2014 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, as it was announced by league office Monday afternoon.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams in all 21 sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight athletes from the SEC who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
Trimble has dedicated much of her time off the tennis court helping the community. A native of Winchester, Ky., Trimble began her own foundation, Lexington Tennis Center Smart Shots, which is an afterschool program for underprivileged elementary students, that tutors students and provides them with tennis lessons.
She has also volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, the Catholic Action Center and the Hope Center. Trimble also hosted students from Murray Elementary School, before Kentucky’s match against Georgia. This is Trimble’s second time being selected to the SEC Community Service Team, the first time was her freshman season in 2012.
