LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s golf sophomore Sarah Harris and freshman Alessandra Walker were named to the 2013-14 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars Team, it was announced Wednesday by the WGCA in Coral Springs, Fla.

A total of 664 women’s collegiate golfers from Divisions I, II and III were recognized with the prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics, including a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.50.

Harris, a native of Hermitage, Tenn., is majoring in integrated strategic communications and finished her second year at UK with a 4.00 GPA. She is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and four-time member of the UK Athletic Directors Honor Roll.

She ranked third on the team in scoring average as a sophomore at 74.74 to go with three total top 20 finishes and a top-10 finish. She tied for second place in the first tournament of the season, the “MO”Morial Invitational with a then-personal best three-day score of 217 (72-71-74). Harris later set a new UK personal best 54-hole score of 215 (76-69-70) at the UCF Challenge.

A native of Paintsville, Ky., Walker finished her first year with a 3.679 GPA in pre-management. She competed in all 10 tournaments as a freshman for the Wildcats, owning a 76.43 stroke average. She turned in her best 54-hole score at the UCF Challenge with a 221 (71-75-75). She tied for 20th at the “MO”Morial Invitational with a three-day score of 224 (75-77-72).
