LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky senior defensive end Alvin “Bud” Dupree has been tabbed second-team All-Southeastern Conference in a voting of league coaches, it was announced by the SEC office on Thursday night during SEC Now on the SEC Network.

Dupree has earned several preseason accolades in 2014, including spots on the Ted Hendricks Award Watch List, given to the nation’s top defensive end, and the Chuck Bednarik and Bronko Nagurski Trophy preseason watch lists, given to the top defensive player in college football.

The native of Irwinton, Ga., is coming off an All-SEC campaign as a junior, leading all league defensive lineman with 61 tackles. He finished the year with a team-leading seven sacks – sixth in the SEC and 40th in the NCAA – while adding a club-high 9.5 tackles for loss, one pass breakup, three quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles.

Dupree, a 6-foot-4, 264-pounder, had a standout game as a junior at Mississippi State, notching 13 tackles, two for a loss, and a sack. It marked the most tackles for a UK defensive lineman since game-by-game records were available back to the 1993 season.

In his career Dupree has played in 35 games with 26 starts, totaling 173 tackles, with 16 sacks, 24.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and four pass breakups.

Kentucky opens its 2014 season on Aug. 30 vs. UT Martin at Commonwealth Stadium, with the game set for a 12 p.m. ET kickoff and will be televised live on the SEC Network.
