LEXINGTON, Ky. — A five-time all-state honoree and the 2012 Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Champion, Calloway County’s Anna Hack has inked a national letter of intent with the Kentucky women’s golf program, UK head coach Golda Johansson Borst announced Thursday.
“We are so happy and excited to announce the signing of Anna,” Borst said. “We have waited a long time for this day to come and now we can officially call her a Wildcat. Anna has seen success both inside and outside the state of Kentucky and she will continue to grow and get better throughout her college career.
“I believe Anna will be a strong impact player for us as she will bring a great deal of determination and passion for the game and our team. Anna comes from a very competitive family and she truly has a strong internal drive. I know she will work hard to help us win a Southeastern Conference and a national championship.”
A native of Murray, Ky., Hack officially signed with the Wildcats after an accomplished high school career at Calloway County. Hack, the 2012 KHSAA state champion, owns three top-10 finishes in the state tournament, participating in seven total KHSAA State Championships.
“As soon as I stepped on campus, I felt like that’s where I needed to be,” Hack said. “Billy Jack, my uncle who played football at Kentucky, was also a big influence on my decision. After I met Coach Borst and the team, I knew I wanted to be a part of the UK family. I was born in Kentucky, raised in Kentucky, and I want to play and win for Kentucky.”
Since 2010, Hack has had 73 top-five finishes in statewide, national and Junior PGA Tour events. She has shot 64 twice in tournament play and was tabbed the 2012-13 Golfweek Junior Tour Player of the Year (girls age 15-19). During 2012, Hack finished in the top five in 16 of 28 events, in 2013, she was a top-five finisher in 16 of 26 events, and in 2014, Hack finished in the top five in 12 of 18 tournaments.
Hack has had great success on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour since 2009, playing in 21 total events, winning nine and never finishing worst that fourth place. Hack also participated on the AJGA, PGA Junior Series and Golf Week Junior Tours. She qualified for the PGA Junior Championship in Bryan, Texas, finishing in 28th place. Hack also qualified for the USGA Junior Girl’s Championship in Flagstaff, Ariz., finishing 26th to qualify for match play.
