Kentucky is in its 41st season of varsity women’s basketball.
Matthew Mitchell is in his eighth season as the head coach of the Wildcats. He already ranks first on UK’s all-time wins list with 174 and winning percentage (.716).
This was the second meeting between Kentucky and Central Michigan. Kentucky now leads the series 2-0 (1-0 at home, 1-0 away).

JenniferO’Neill had the first score of the game, hitting a 3-pointer at the top of the key, followed by a 3-pointer from Janee Thompson to give UK a 6-0 lead.

CMU got as close as five at 26-21 with 7:43 remaining in the half but UK finished on a 21-7 run to lead 47-28 at the break.

UK began the second half with the same starting five who started the game.
The Cats led by 16 in the second half before the Chippewas chipped away at the lead. CMU pulled as close as three points twice, the final time with 40 seconds to go in the game. After a missed 3-pointer byO’Neill and rebound by CMU, Jessica Green, who finished with a team-high 16 points, attempted a game-tying 3-pointer with three seconds left but it missed the mark.
UK was outscored 40-24 in the second half and CMU owned a 26-15 advantage on the boards in the second half.

For the fifth time in eight seasons of the Matthew Mitchell era the Wildcats have started a season 4-0.
Tonight marked UK’s eighth straight road win over a nonconference team during the regular season.
Kentucky is now 70-41 under Matthew Mitchell, including 2-0 this season decided by 10 points or less.
UK led the entire game from start to finish. UK’s largest lead was 20 points at the 1:12 mark in the first half.
UK had eight 3-pointers tonight and has now made six or more 3s in every game this season.
UK’s 13 steals were the second-most this season. The Cats had 16 vs. Appalachian State.
Three Wildcats scored in double figures with JenniferO’Neill leading the way with 19 points, followed by 12 from Makayla Epps and 10 from Linnae Harper.
UK improved to 113-37 all-time in November, including 42-6 overall and 10-2 on the road under Matthew Mitchell. UK has now won 12 straight November contests.
Kentucky forced 21 turnovers in the game and scored 35 points off turnovers.

Bria Goss scored six points in the game to increase her career point total to 1,083. She now ranks 23rd all-time on UK’s career scoring list, passing Janet Timperman (1976-79, 1,080).
- With four free throws, she moves to No. 6 on the career free throws list with 323.
Azia Bishop recorded a season-high 11 rebounds.
- Swatted three blocks in the game, moving her ahead of Jennifer Humphrey (2003-07) into fourth on UK’s career list with 109.
Linnae Harper scored 10 points, collected six rebounds and a career-high five steals.
- Has scored in double digits five straight games, dating back to last season.
Makayla Epps had a season-high tying four assists in the game, while also playing a season-high 30 minutes.
- Finished the first half with 10 points, the most points in the first half this season.
