LEXINGTON, Ky. — After firing seven no-hit innings on Saturday, Kentucky junior right-hander Kyle Cody has been named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and Co-Pitcher of the Week by the Southeastern Conference, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

A native of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Cody had the best start of his three-year career last week, hurling seven no-hit innings, allowing just one walk before hitting a pre-determined pitch count. He allowed a walk to leadoff the third inning, before retiring 15 consecutive hitters to end his outing, with no runners reaching scoring position. A 6-foot-7, 245-pounder, Cody set a new career high with nine strikeouts in his bid for the first no-hitter in UK history since 1974.

On the year, Cody – rated as the 19th best prospect available in the 2015 MLB Draft by Baseball America – has worked 14 innings over his three starts, striking out 18 and walking only three.

Kentucky (7-3) will open its home schedule on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., hosting Murray State in a doubleheader at Cliff Hagan Stadium.
