Kentucky Men Ready for 2022 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky swimming and diving program is set to return to the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia, this time for the 2022 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships from March 23-26.

Prelims on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will begin at 10 a.m. ET while Wednesday serves as a timed finals session. All four finals sessions are slated to begin at 6 p.m. with ESPN3 providing digital broadcast coverage each evening.

More information, including the event schedule, live results and broadcast details, can be found on the meet central page here.

The Wildcats who will compete in Atlanta include Kyle Barker, Max Berg, Jakob Clark, Sam Duncan, Victor Martin Roig, Rodrigo Romero and Mason Wilby. They combined for eight individual entries with Barker and Wilby achieving the maximum number a student-athlete can have at three races each.

In addition to the five swimmers and two divers who will compete at the national meet, Kentucky is also eligible to race the 800 free relay. It will mark the first time since 2010 the Wildcat men have swum this particular relay at the NCAA Championships.

After earning a bid last year, co-captains Duncan and Wilby return to the big dance for the second time in their careers. Wilby enters the meet as the seventh seed in the 200 fly, which would earn All-America First Team status. The senior finished 13th in that event to garner honorable mention recognition last season.

The men went on a record-breaking spree in February, rewriting the history books seven times. Wilby contributed to three of those records as an individual (200 back, 200 IM, 200 fly) and earned bronze in the latter event at the Southeastern Conference Championships. He became the first UK male swimmer to medal at the conference meet since 2012.

Barker (200 breast), Berg (200 free) and the 800 free relay also set new program marks in Knoxville at the SEC Championships, while Barker broke the record in the 400 IM at the last chance meet the following weekend. The men’s team has also set a combined 34 personal records throughout the postseason thus far.

The men’s national meet comes one week after the women’s meet, which was also held in Atlanta on Georgia Tech’s campus. In total, the Kentucky women concluded the championships with four first-team All-Americans, 14 All-America Honorable Mention selections, one school record and eight personal best times.
