No. 18 Kentucky to Visit UAB on Saturday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a nine-day hiatus, No. 18 Kentucky (9-3-1, 1-2 Conference USA) is set to return to the pitch for a rematch against UAB (2-9-1, 0-2-1 C-USA) Saturday on the road at 3 p.m. ET.
The Wildcats defeated the Blazers 2-0 in a non-conference matchup last fall.
Kentucky enters Saturday looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to No. 8 Marshall on March 18. The shutout was the first suffered by the UK offense since a season-opening defeat by the same score at Notre Dame on Sept. 17, 2020.
The Wildcats’ last road match was a comfortable 3-1 win at Florida Atlantic five days prior to facing the Thundering Herd. Junior midfielder Clay Holstad, the only Birmingham native on the UK roster, scored his first goal of the season just 16 minutes into Kentucky’s win over the Owls.
UAB enters Saturday fresh off back-to-back losses away from home at FIU and Charlotte by a combined deficit of 7-0. Since playing Old Dominion to a 1-1 draw at home on March 6, the Blazers are still seeking their first conference win.
