Curry, Skinner and Lilley Collect SEC Weekly Honors Monday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Gabby Curry was named Co-Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Madi Skinner was named the SEC Freshman of the Week and Madison Lilley was crowned the SEC’s Setter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
The three awards for Kentucky come on the heels of a perfect 2-0 weekend at Arkansas, in which the Wildcats improved to 10-0 on the season with two sweeps of the Razorbacks. UK with the two wins remains in the driver’s seat of the SEC with a two-game lead on both Florida (8-2) and Missouri (8-2).
Gabby Curry, Co-SEC Defensive Player of the Week
- Season-high 18 digs in UK’s Saturday win at Arkansas
- Averaged 4.00 digs per set
- Helped lead UK’s defense, which kept Arkansas under .100 hitting on the weekend
Madison Lilley, SEC Setter of the Week
- Helped lead UK to a .493 hitting percentage on Friday night
- Averaged 11.8 assists per set for the weekend
- Had a season-high five blocks in Saturday’s 3-0 sweep of the Razorbacks
Madi Skinner, SEC Freshman of the Week
- 11 kills on the weekend, including nine on Friday night
- Hit .667 with just one error on 12 swings in UK’s win over Arkansas in game one
- Five blocks in match two, more than doubling her career high on Saturday afternoon
Following a bye week next week, Kentucky’s season picks back up in Athens, Georgia on February 13 and 14 against the Georgia Bulldogs. Both matches are scheduled for a 3 p.m. ET start at Stegman Coliseum.
