No. 2 Kentucky Hosts Auburn in Memorial Coliseum This Weekend
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Volleyball team, which ascended to No. 2 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches’ Association rankings, will play host to the Auburn Tigers this weekend in Memorial Coliseum as the Wildcats put a cap on home matches for the fall portion of its 2020-21 schedule.
Both Saturday and Sunday’s matches will be at 4 p.m. ET, with Saturday’s match airing live on the SEC Network+ and Sunday’s being broadcasted live on the SEC Network with Courtney Lyle and Missy Whittemore on the call.
Both matches this weekend are following the same attendance procedures as Kentucky’s opening series vs. Tennessee, as only those individuals on a player or coach pass list will be allowed into Memorial Coliseum. That decision was made back in October to keep the health and safety of the players, coaches, staff and fans in mind.
Kentucky is currently 4-0 at the halfway mark of its 2020-21 fall schedule of matches, having swept Tennessee to open the season, and No. 9 Mizzou last weekend in Columbia, Missouri. The Wildcats have the No. 1 offense in the country, led by Avery Skinner and Alli Stumler who are both averaging 4.33 kills per set.
Madison Lilley was named the SEC Player of the Week and SEC Setter of the Week on Monday afternoon for the second time this season after her sensational performance against the Tigers last week. Gabby Curry was honored with SEC Defensive Player of the Week hardware on Monday and Alli Stumler took home SEC Offensive Player of the Week after averaging over five kills per set against Mizzou.
Auburn is 0-4 this season in its two series, having dropped both of its matches to No. 4 Florida and South Carolina to start the fall campaign. The Tigers are under the direction of first-year head coach Brent Crouch, who took over following a stint as the head coach at Southern California.
