INDIANAPOLIS – Freshman Tyler `Chip’ McDaniel and junior David Snyder were selected as individuals for the NCAA Men’s Golf Regional Championships it was announced on Monday. The duo is among 10 individuals selected for the Lubbock, Texas, regional hosted by Texas Tech, May 14-16.

“David and Chip led this team this year and are very deserving of making it to the NCAA postseason,” UK coach Brian Craig said. “I am tremendously disappointed our entire team did not make it, but we will move forward and be much improved next year. Now, we need to support David and Chip as they both have the game to make a significant run in the NCAA’s.”

UK’s twosome will have the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Finals in Bradenton, Florida at The Concession Golf Club as the high individual finisher at the Regional site.

Snyder will compete in his second NCAA Tournament after being a part of the starting lineup during UK’s run in 2014 that resulted in an 18th overall finish at the NCAA Championships.

The junior from Somerset, Ky., finished the season with a team-leading 72.0 stroke average. He finished with eight total top-20 finishes including a win at the UK Bluegrass Invitational. Snyder also logged three top-five finishes including a 9-under par fourth place finish at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate.

McDaniel tied Snyder with a stroke average of 72.0 during his first season in competition for the Wildcats. He was an All-Southeastern Conference Freshman team selection after notching six top-20 finishes on the season including placing 11th in his first-ever SEC Championship. McDaniel’s highlight of the season was claiming in the individual title at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational to conclude fall competition.

Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 14-16. Thirteen teams and tenindividuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.

The finals will be conducted May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. The University of South Florida is the host institution for the 2015 championships.
