LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky junior outfielder Dorian Hairston has been named a Capital One first-team Academic All-District selection, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday afternoon.

A native of Lexington, Ky., Hairston is an English major and also minors in African-America studies, sporting a 3.83 cumulative GPA. Hairston was a finalist for the Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar in 2014, which highlights undergraduate students of color who exemplify the standards set by tennis great Arthur Ashe Jr.

A member of the 2013 and 2014 Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, Hairston has played in 34 games with 24 starts in 2015, owning six doubles, three homers and 17 RBI, stealing three bases. In his three-year career, Hairston has hit .331 with seven doubles, three homers and 25 RBI, stealing four bases. Hairston’s three homers have come at Arkansas, at No. 1 LSU and vs. No. 6 Vanderbilt.

Kentucky (26-21, 11-12 Southeastern Conference) return to action on Friday at 6:30 p.m. vs. Georgia at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

The members of the Academic All-District team are now advanced to the Capital One Academic All-America ballot.
