23 Kentucky Swimmers, Divers Determined as 2020 CSCAA All-Americans
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America has named 23 University of Kentucky swimmers and divers to the 2020 CSCAA All-America team, it was announced on Wednesday. Due to the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, the CSCAA board adjusted the selection criteria to recognize a group of individuals who would have had the opportunity to compete for All-America status at the cancelled national meet.
“It’s disappointing that the winter and spring seasons were cut short for thousands of student-athletes, but we know it was the appropriate decision to help fight the COVID-19 public health threat,” said head coach Lars Jorgensen. “While perhaps it’s even more tragic for our seniors whose careers were cut short, I’m happy the CSCAA can recognize them, and others, in this way. I hope this honor is received by our student-athletes as a small token of appreciation for their hard work and sacrifice.”
The result of the CSCAA All-America team was an unprecedented number of selections in what is largely acknowledged as unprecedented circumstances.
The Division I selection criteria is as follows:
- All relays achieving NCAA “A” standards
