LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky junior outfielder Dorian Hairston has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

A product of Lexington’s Tates Creek High School, Hairston is active in the community, participating with the Bluegrass Miracle League and God’s Pantry. A blossoming poet, has read poetry and spoke to high school students. Is an active member of Phi Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and is the youngest member of the Affrilachian Poets.

Hairston was the baseball finalist for the Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar in 2014, which highlights student-athletes of color who exemplify the standards set by tennis great Arthur Ashe Jr. He was named to the 2013 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll and the 2014 SEC Academic Honor Roll. Has a 3.82 cumulative GPA as an English major, with a minor in African-America Studies, and was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team in 2015.

Kentucky (27-23) returns to action on Tuesday night, hosting Northern Kentucky in the home finale, with first pitch slated for 7 p.m. with first pitch on the SEC Network.
