No. 3 UK Rifle Hosts Two Top-10 Teams This Weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 3 UK rifle returns to action at the Buell Armory on Friday against No. 5 Ole Miss after an off weekend. No. 6 Akron travels to Lexington for a matchup against the Wildcats on Sunday. Friday’s match will start at 9 a.m. ET, while Sunday’s match against the Zips will begin at 8 a.m. ET.
 
The two GARC conference opponents return to Lexington after Kentucky defeated the two a season ago. The Wildcats traveled to Oxford last year, beating the Rebels 4694-4647. Akron makes the trip to Lexington for the second year in a row. Kentucky shot their best score of the year last season in that matchup, winning 4709-4666.
 
The Wildcats continued their impressive start to the 2019-20 season two weekends ago in Colorado by earning a 2309 in smallbore and 2377 in air rifle to total an overall team score of 4686 and earn victories over No. 4 Air Force, No. 14 Nebraska and No. 19 UTEP. The match took place in U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado, on the campus of the Air Force Academy.
 
The host of the match, Air Force, finished second scoring 2315 in smallbore, 2359 in air rifle, and a 4674 overall. Nebraska finished third overall with 2273 in smallbore, 2363 in air rifle, and 4636 overall while UTEP finished fourth with 2243 in smallbore, 2317 in air rifle, and 4560 overall.
 
UK will finish up its Fall slate by hosting Navy on Saturday, Nov. 16. That match will begin at 9 a.m. ET.
 
This season’s GARC Championships will be in Memphis, Tennessee, on Feb. 28-29. Kentucky will play host to the 2019 NCAA Championships in Memorial Coliseum on March 13-14.
