Kentucky Sends 12 Swimmers, Two Divers to USA Nationals
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of
Kentucky swimming and diving teams will be sending 14 athletes to the Lone Star
state this weekend as 12 swimmers and two divers will be taking part in the 2015
Phillips 66 National USA Swimming Championships on Aug. 6-10 at the
Northside Swim Center in San Antonio, Texas.
The premiere annual event on the USA Swimming
calendar, the 2015 Phillips 66 National Championships features some of the
nation’s top swimmers. The event serves as the USA National Team selection for
several international events, including the 2015 Pan Pacific Championships,
2016 World Championships and the 2016 World University Games.
In addition to live streaming on
USASwimming.org throughout the week, the meet’s finals will be aired live on
NBC beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 9 running to 2:30 p.m. ET before
also airing on Sunday, Aug. 16 from 1 p.m. ET to 3 p.m. ET on NBC as well with
Dan Hicks and Rowdy Gaines on the call. The coverage of the Phillips 66
Nationals will run congruently with the 16th FINA World
Championships.
Kentucky will be sending 12 swimmers to Texas,
comprised of George Greenhalgh, Scott Crosthwaite, Andrew Aviotti, Kyle
Higgins, Isaac Jones, Bridgette Alexander, Danielle Galyer, Kendra Crew, Kendal
Casey, Annie Davies, Christina Bechtel and Abby Myers.
Rebecca Hamperian and Levi Lindsey
of the UK diving team will be competing on the 12th and 13th
of August in the USA Diving Championships. Hamperian will compete on the
1-meter championship on the 12th and 3-meter title on the 13th.
Lindsey will compete in the same events, but on opposite days.
