Three Honored as Golf All-America Scholars
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s golfers Lukas Euler, Matt Liston and Max Mehles were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for their outstanding effort both on and off the course.
The trio is three of a record 266 players in Division I golf to claim the honor. To be eligible a player must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of the team’s competition, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
All three players were also named to the Southeastern Conference’s Academic Honor Roll earlier this summer.
Euler appeared in 41 events during his four-year career with UK that wrapped in May. He fired a career-low 71.74 stroke average as a senior and had a career-low round of 67. He was a PING All-Southeast Region selection and a second-team All-SEC pick. He had six top-20 finishes, including a tie for ninth during stroke play of the SEC Championship. In all he tallied 20 career top-20 finishes and had a pair of runner-up finishes.
He was a May graduate with a degree in finance. He is a four-time Academic All-SEC selection.
Liston was one of two Wildcats to appear and start in all 11 events for the Wildcats in 2018-19. He owned a career-low average of 74.09 with seven par-or-better rounds. His best finish came at the Schenkel Invitational where he placed in a tie for 24th with a season-low round of 71.
He is a three-time All-SEC Academic Honor Roll member and has appeared in 22 career events. He’s majoring in finance.
Mehles is a three-time selection to the Academic All-SEC Team and is majoring in management.
He appeared in all 11 events for the Wildcats last season with a career-low scorecard of 72.76. Mehles charted five top-20 finishes, including a season-best tie for ninth at the SEC Championship. He generated rounds of 67-69-72 in that event for a career-low 54-hole score of 208. He was also UK’s top finisher at the NCAA Athens Regional with a tie for 18th. He’s appeared in 20 career events.
