Women’s Soccer Looks to Shatter Attendance Record vs. Louisville
LEXINGTON, Ky. – With a strong 3-1-0
start to the 2015 season, including a win over No. 20 Washington, the
University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will be looking to set a new Wendell
& Vickie Bell Soccer Complex attendance record on Friday night, as the
Wildcats face the Louisville Cardinals in the annual “Battle of the Bluegrass”
at 7:30 p.m. ET.
UK fans can purchase tickets to the match at the UK Ticket Office, or UKathletics.com.
There are a plethora of promotions going on
Friday night in an effort to break the existing attendance record of 1,774 for
a women’s soccer match which was set back in 2009 and the Bell Soccer Complex
record of 3,368 set in 2014 for a men’s match.
All fans who wear UK blue to the match will be
admitted on Friday for just $1, and will also receive free rally towels to be
waved during the match. Additionally, fans that enter the gates will get free
UKWS trading cards, with Friday’s match featuring juniors Alex Carter and Zoe Swift.
Kentucky will be debuting new interactive match
programs for fans to look over, as well as a new extravagant introduction to
lineups featuring world-class pyrotechnics.
The UK Athletics staff will be opening up berm
seating for the first time in a UK women’s soccer match, with fans allowed to
bring a blanket and chairs and perch along the far sideline to watch the match.
There will be additional restrooms and concession stands added to the stadium’s
far side to better the fan experience.
UK is also tapping into the youth ranks on
Friday, with all youth teams eligible to receive free entrance into the match
by contacting the UK marketing staff at Alexandra.ayer@uky.edu.
All season ticket holders are still admitted
into the Bell Soccer Complex with their season ticket scarves, and are
encouraged to wear them on Friday night.
