LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the first time in the game’s history, the UK Alumni Charity Game is sold out. Fortunately for fans who didn’t get tickets in time, the game will be broadcast on national television, which is also a first.
ESPNU will televise the game, which will be held Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in Rupp Arena.
The game will feature UK players either currently or formerly playing professionally against North Carolina players either currently or formerly playing professionally. The Big Blue Nation will have an opportunity to enjoy some of the top talent to don the Blue and White against other elite talent. Per NBA rules, the University of Kentucky cannot confirm individual players participating in the exhibition game.
Tom Hart will call the game alongside UK Athletics Hall of Famer and former UK men’s basketball star Tony Delk, who recently had his jersey retired in Rupp Arena, and former North Carolina forward Jason Capel. Kaylee Hartung will serve as the sideline reporter.
The UK Charity Alumni game has been played twice in Rupp Arena (2012, 2013) and raised millions of dollars for charities in conjunction with the John Calipari Basketball Fantasy Experience. The inaugural game in 2012 raised $350,000 and then ballooned to more than $1 million in donations in 2013. Despite not playing the game in 2014, the John Calipari Basketball Fantasy Experience was able to raise approximately $1 million with the money going to 23 different charities and organizations.
Presentations for the beneficiaries will be presented throughout the 2015 game — during timeouts, at haltime and postgame.
Doors to Rupp Arena will open Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.
