‘Tent City Live presented by Papa John’s’ Continues Thursday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – There aren’t many fan bases that camp out for days in order to get free tickets to what equates to a glorified basketball pep rally, but then again, there aren’t many fan bases like the Big Blue Nation. In yet another example of how wild and passionate they are, the UK Sports Network will be debuting “Tent City Live presented by Papa John’s.”
“Tent City Live presented by Papa John’s” will be a two-day live stream broadcast from the heart of the Big Blue Madness Campout outside Memorial Coliseum on Avenue of Champions. The live stream will air from 8-10 p.m. ET on UKAthletics.com/tentcitylive on Wednesday and Thursday. Dave Baker and Christi Thomas will host the show on Wednesday. Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio and the UK Sports Network will join as co-host on Thursday.
Special guests will join throughout the two-day event, including UK men’s basketball head coach John Calipari, the voice of the Cats, Tom Leach, Kentucky Sports Radio and the UK Sports Network’s Freddie Maggard, and many more.
Fans at the Big Blue Madness Campout will not only be able to watch “Tent City Live presented by Papa John’s” on the UK Sports Network from the Coke stage on Avenue of Champions, but those who are not in the area will be able to enjoy all of the events online through a live video stream on UKathletics.com/tentcitylive.
Along with special guest interviews, “Tent City Live presented by Papa John’s” will have giveaways and contests for lucky campers, including a Fischer’s hot dog grilling station by Specialty Foods Group, complete with a hot dog eating contest. Also, the ever-popular Papa John’s pizza giveaway will be held Thursday evening. Throughout the “Tent City Live presented by Papa John’s” broadcast, there will be an opportunity for eight lucky fans to test their Kentucky Basketball knowledge against one another in the Academy Sports+Outdoors eight-person trivia bracket challenge. Fans are also encouraged to submit questions and comments for the hosts and guests to the UK Sports Network via Twitter at @UKRadioNetwork to be answered on the live stream.
New this year, Tempur-Pedic and Sleep Outfitters are giving away a Big Blue Glamping experience. At the beginning of the “Tent City Live presented by Papa John’s” broadcast, one camper will be chosen to win a luxury tent upgrade, with an interior designed by Folk Magazine & Circa Home and a meet-and-greet “tent warming” visit by Coach Cal.
To get involved, campers will need to stop by the Big Blue Glamping tent (located on the southwest side of the Joe Craft Center nearest the Wildcat Coal Lodge) and fill out a card to register for a chance to win the Glamping upgrade. UK Athletics will announce the winner Wednesday during the live broadcast, “Tent City Live presented by Papa John’s” on UKathletics.com. Beginning that night, the winner and a guest will be able to enjoy the upgraded glamping experience for the remainder of their stay at the Big Blue Madness Campout.
