Wildcats Open SEC Tournament Play Monday vs. LSU
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s
soccer team will look to rekindle its 2014 SEC Tournament magic on Monday afternoon,
as the Wildcats square off against the LSU Tigers at 4:30 p.m. ET in the
opening round of the 2015 SEC Tournament from the Orange Beach SportsPlex in
Orange Beach, Ala. World Cup commentators Jenn Hildreth and former Olympic gold
medalist Cat Whitehill will have the call from Orange Beach with Taylor
Bisciotti reporting from the sidelines.
UK and LSU faced each other on Thursday night
in both teams’ regular season finale, with Kentucky outshooting LSU 19-10, but
coming up short in a 3-2 loss at the Bell Soccer Complex on Senior Day.
Kentucky got goals from Jade Klump and Tanya Samarzich in the second half, but was
unable to find the equalizer to push UK over the top. It was LSU’s first win
over UK since 2011.
Kentucky is in a battle for its NCAA Tournament
life as well, currently sitting on the bubble at No. 49 in the NCAA RPI, the
No. 1 metric used of measuring teams for postseason berths. The Wildcats have
made the NCAA Tournament four years in a row, the longest running period in program
history.

Rouge this season, whilst being undefeated at home this year at 8-0-4. The
Tigers have a four match unbeaten streak going right now in the SEC, its

15 goals and two assists for 32 points on the year. The Tigers are led in net
by goalkeeper Catalina Rubiana, who has played in 18 matches and has a GAA of
1.06 and six shutouts.
Kentucky leads the all-time series with LSU 12-5-2, and has won two
matches out of the last three over the Tigers. LSU beat UK 3-2 on Thursday
