–        Kentucky secured a 112-57 win over Morehead State.

–        UK moves to 3-0 on the season and 28-4 all-time against Morehead State.

o   It marked the first time that UK surpassed the century mark since Nov. 14, 2014, when the team put up 111 against Appalachian State.

o   UK is now a perfect 48-0 when scoring 100+ points.

o   It is the third time the team has posted 100+ points against Morehead State.

o   The last time the team won by more than 40 points was on Jan. 20, 2013 against Auburn, with a 97-53 victory.

–        The Wildcats are in their 42nd season of varsity basketball, holding a 738-495 (.598) all-time record.

–        Kentucky has won 52 consecutive regular season non-conference games inside Memorial Coliseum, dating back to Dec. 19, 2008 vs. Alabama A&M.

–        Matthew Mitchell is in his ninth season with Kentucky and the win moves him to 227-110 overall, including a 197-81 record while at Kentucky.

 

–        Makayla Epps made history as just the second Wildcat to notch a triple-double, and the first to do it on points/rebounds/assists. She finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists.

o   The first triple-double was Leslie Nichols’ 18-point, 13-rebound, 11-steal effort on Feb. 14, 1986.

–        Three players had double-doubles by the close of the third period (Evelyn Akhator, Epps and Alexis Jennings).  It was the first time since Nov. 28, 1989, against East Carolina that three Wildcats had double-doubles in the same game.

–        Kentucky tied its all-time team rebounding record with 67 boards, set on March 22, 2014 against Wright State.

o   Three players had double-digit rebounds (Akhator, Jennings and Epps).  The last time the feat was accomplished was on Nov. 23, 2012 when Samarie Walker had 13, Azia Bishop had 10, and DeNesha Stallworth had 10, also against Morehead State.

–        The team was one assist off the all-time record with 32. Kentucky had dished out 33 assists twice in school history, on Jan. 23, 1982 against Michigan and on Dec. 28, 1983 at Detroit-Mercy.

–        UK outscored the Eagles in the paint, 70-22, and outrebounded MSU, 67-42.

o   The last time that Kentucky outrebounded a team by 20 or more was on Feb. 20, 2014, holding a 25-rebound edge over South Carolina.

–        The team forced 26 turnovers, turning them into 25 points.

–        Following a 3-pointer by Janee Thompson with 8:30 to play in the first period, UK took the lead and never relinquished it for the remainder of the contest

–        Nine of the first 11 field goals in the first period were assisted.  Seven came from Epps, who tied her career high in the first period.

–        UK led 27-12 at the end of the first period.

–        Morehead State started the second period with a 7-0 run, which UK answered back with a 10-0 run.

–        Kentucky held Morehead State to just 33.3% from the floor in the first half.

–        UK started off the second half with a 9-2 run.

–        Morehead State shot just 25.6% from the floor. This is the second time this season that a team has been held to under 30% (Rice, 26.8%).

–        MSU also shot 17.9% in the second half.  The last time an opponent was held to lower than 20% was on Nov. 22, 2005 against Stetson (18.0%).

 

Individual Notes

–        Makayla Epps recorded the second triple-double in UK history.  She finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists.

o   She had recorded her triple-double by the end of the third period.

o   Her 12 assists and 11 rebounds were both career highs.

o   The last time a player had 12 or more assists was on Dec. 1, 1993, when Stacey Reed dished out a dozen assists against Detroit.

o   The mark ties for seventh all-time.

–        Alexis Jennings notched the second double-double of her career with 28 points and 13 rebounds.

o   Both are career highs for Jennings, including a career-best nine defensive rebounds.

–        Evelyn Akhator had her second career double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds, her second within three games.

o   Akhator also had five blocks, which ties for the fifth-most blocks in a single game in UK history.

–        Janee Thompson had a career-high 22 points, including a career-best four 3-pointers. She was just one assist shy of a double-double, with nine.

–        Taylor Murray matched her career bests in scoring and steals, with 12 points and four swipes.
