Kentucky Men’s Tennis Exits NCAA Singles and Doubles Tournament

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Kentucky men’s tennis team exited the NCAA Singles and Doubles Tournament on Thursday afternoon on the campus of Wake Forest University. Will Bushamuka was eliminated in the second round, while the duo of Gus Benson and Cesar Bourgois lost in the first round.
 
Bushamuka was forced to retire in the first set in his match against No. 4 Petros Chrysochos of Wake Forest. Bushamuka was down 5-0 when he withdrew. Bushamuka will finish his spring senior season at 12-9 and 5-8 against nationally ranked opponents. He’ll finish his career with 82 wins over his four years and with at least 11 victories in each of his spring seasons. Bushamuka had 24 wins on the top court over his four years with Kentucky.
 
No. 13 Bourgois/Benson were able to force a tiebreak third set but lost to Martin Redlicki and Evan Zhu of UCLA, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 in the first round of the doubles tournament. The duo will finish the spring season at 10-8 and 4-7 against nationally ranked opponents.
