No. 15 Kentucky to Host Alabama, No. 16 Auburn in SEC Opening Weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 15 Kentucky women’s tennis team will open up Southeastern Conference play this weekend inside the Boone Tennis Center, bringing in No. 37 Alabama on Friday at 6 p.m. ET, and No. 16 Auburn on Sunday at noon.
 
The Wildcats are looking to build on their five-match win streak, which including two ranked victories over No. 16 Baylor and No. 22 Arizona State. Their roster features two ranked singles players in No. 50 Akvile Parazinskaite and No. 117 Justina Mikulskyte, and one ranked duo in No. 47 Mami Adachi/Emily Fanning.
 
With its win streak, Kentucky has earned the last two SEC Player of the Week honors. Mikulksyte earned the distinction on Feb. 21, while sophomore transfer Diana Tkachenko was recognized on Feb. 28.
 
Alabama (12-3) has lost two straight, falling to Auburn and Wake Forest at home on Feb. 24. The No. 37 Crimson Tide’s three losses have all come against ranked opponents this season. Alabama is led by junior Andie Daniell, who is ranked No. 118 in the nation and owns a 9-2 record in singles play this season.
 
The Tigers are 11-4 this season, with their losses coming to Princeton, No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 21 Wake Forest and No. 5 Illinois. Auburn’s roster features two ranked singles players in No. 60 Jaeda Daniel and No. 121 Taylor Russo. The Tigers will first visit Nashville to face Vanderbilt before heading to Lexington on Sunday.
