Opening Statement….

“I am trying to figure out this team and I am trying to figure out individuals. So in my genius ways, I am trying to post him up. Maybe he is a jump shooting big man, so let him shoot jump shots. That’s not on him. Now he has to get in better shape, he can’t stay out there long. You do have to fight and play tougher but he had confidence because he made a couple shots so that’s not on him, that’s on me. We did some stuff today that we haven’t done, middle pick and roll. I am trying everything to figure out what is this team. Derek Willis makes us a better team and got to put people on the bench and get him his minutes. Jamal Murray and Isaiah Briscoe still have to learn to win. They made plays that gave us a chance to lose. You have to give Arkansas credit, they didn’t stop playing. They just keep playing and win and make threes. They do not care about the score. Any time you can win on the road is a big game. Tyler Ulis was ridiculous today. he was really, really, really good” 

On defense….

“Hannahs killed us anyways but we said make them beat us with tough twos. That’s what we were trying to do. We knew one, if you turn it over, they are flying. Two, they are the best team at creating threes that we will have played against. Because we didn’t get many turnovers, they did not get many in transition. Then the rest of it comes in the half court. You’re just saying you’re drive the ball. Two guys were together, both left Hannahs, the one guy you don’t leave. Both stay on him and leave the guy for a lay-up, they left him and the kid makes a three. 

Opening Statement…

“First of all, I want to congratulate Kentucky. I thought John did a good job of having his team prepared to play, they came out and they really attacked us . Tyler Ulis did a great job of just taking command out there on the floor. Derek Willis gave them a guy that could really open up the floor for them. He just took the ball and did whatever he wanted to do. I really thought we started off the game on our heels. What lead to that was probably offensive rebounding. We made them miss the initial shot but then there is Poythress getting the offensive rebound; Marcus Lee or Skal Labissiere, they got rebounds and put them in. To me the game came down to second chance points and of course they got to the free throw line and they made their free throws. I thought we played on our heels and that’s not typical of our basketball team. We had a great, great crowd. I thank Razorback nation and all the fans that came out. Great atmosphere, that’s what big time basketball is all about.”

On Kentucky defense…. 

“I guess they were switching everything. I wouldn’t say frustration is the word for their defense. I would say we got hit in the mouth early and never recovered. We kept trying to make that push but what really killed us was giving up rebounds. They had a lot of second chance points and that’s what hurt us. They were getting stops on defense and we weren’t. That’s bottom line.”

 

On defensive efforts….

“We didn’t want to rebound and they did. They wanted to rebound more. Like Dusty said we got hit in the mouth early and we didn’t respond how we needed to to win the game. We let them hit us first and we got ourselves in a hole and we couldn’t climb out. They hit the offensive boards really hard. When you hit the glass like that, you are likely to come out with a win.”
