Meet the Wildcats: Ale Walker

LEXINGTON, Ky. – In preparation for the Kentucky women’s golf team’s return to the course in late January for the all-important spring season, UKathletics.com will be featuring a profile on each of the Wildcats in the “Meet the Wildcats” series. The weekly series is an opportunity to get to know a little more about the 2015-16 Kentucky women’s golf team.

The series continues this week with junior Ale Walker.

Walker is in her third season in the program. She held a 76.76 scoring average last season with three top-40 finishes and a top-20 finish before an injury derailed the rest of her year. She did not play in the fall either because of an injury.

When healthy, Walker is a force to be reckoned with. In addition to her three top-40 finishes in 2014-15, she competed in all 10 tournaments as a freshman and recorded a top-20 finish at the “MO”Morial Invitational. She’s also made the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.

In high school, Walker was the regional and All-A state champion in 2012. She was a five-time state tournament qualifier, All-A Regional champion (2010-12), voted on the All-Area Team (2009-11) and was the first woman to compete in the 2012 Paintsville Invitational, placing third.
