Kentucky Headed to Miami Diving Invitational for Fall Finale
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky diving team will wrap up its fall competition this weekend, heading to Oxford, Ohio, for the 2017 Miami Open. The meet will begin Thursday, with the final events held on Saturday.
“We’re looking forward to this meet,” said head diving coach Ted Hautau. “It’s got one of the best teams in China that’s coming over, so we’ve got some great young talent to dive against and hopefully a couple future Wildcats to recruit.”
“Our team has been working on some new dives, so it’s an opportunity to put new dives in their list,” added Hautau. “Excited to have one more quality competition before we go to a training cycle.”
In addition to Kentucky and Miami, several other area universities will compete in the meet including IUPUI, Cincinnati, Louisville and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
On Thursday, competition will kick off with both men’s and women’s platform. The springboard events will begin Friday with women’s 3-meter and men’s 1-meter, and the opposite boards on Saturday.
Select Kentucky swimmers will also be in action this weekend, as Haley McInerny, Bailey Bonnett, Bridgette Alexander, Morgan Belli, Ali Galyer and Glen Brown will travel to Columbus, Dec. 1-2, for the USA Swimming Winter Nationals.
