Women’s Basketball Announces 2016 Summer Camp Details

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program has announced dates and information for its 2016 team and individual summer camps. Complete details and registration on all UK women’s basketball camps is available online at ukathletics.com/camps. 
Matthew Mitchell, the winningest head coach in program history, and his staff will host two team camps in the month of June, starting with session one from June 8-10, while session two will be held June 15-17. Camp fee information and team registration for both camps is available online here. Teams must be registered prior to Friday, May 27. 
Along with the team camps, the UK women’s basketball program will host three individual camps in the month of June. Registration and more detailed information for all three individual camps, including schedules, are available here
The Junior Wildcat Day Camp will be June 5-7 and is $175 per camper ($200 if registered after May 27). The Junior Wildcat Day Camp is a fundamental basketball camp for individual players designed to teach foundation skills for all upcoming basketball players and is open to any and all rising 1st – 5th grade girls. Each day will be broken up into shooting, defense, passing, ball handling and footwork. Instruction will be provided by former and current Wildcat players and staff.
The Individual Day Camp will also be June 5-7 and is $225 per camper ($250 if registered after May 27). This camp is designed to develop and teach basketball skills. The camp will emphasize fundamental basketball and overall player development. Daily instruction and stations will focus on dribbling, ball-handling, shooting, rebounding and defensive techniques. Campers will compete on teams in order to apply their individual skills to the team concept. The camp is open to any and all rising 6th – 12th grade girls.
The final individual camp is the Elite Camp, which will be held June 18-19. Overnight campers, who must be at least 12 years of age at the start of camp, is $175 per camper ($200 if registered after May 27). The price is $110 for commuters ($140 if registered after May 27). The Elite Camp will teach and fine-tune advanced fundamental skills of all players. The tempo of this camp will be fast-paced and extremely competitive. This camp is open to girls entering 7th – 12th grade. The Elite Camp will feature intense workouts aimed at improving individual skills, positions skills and competitive team play. The instructors for this camp will include Coach Mitchell and his coaching staff. Other instructors will include current and former Kentucky players as well as distinguished college, high school, and AAU Coaches.
