Day Two Results
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – Junior Stephen Stallings capped day two of the Puerto Rico Classic just one stroke off of the lead to pave the way for the Kentucky men’s golf team who are in fifth place overall through two rounds of action at the Puerto Rico Classic. Sophomore Cooper Musselman also dazzled on day two as he carded his best round of 2015-16 to push into a tie for 14th overall.

“For the first event of the spring, we are off to a very solid start. There is a lot of golf to be played, but I like the direction this team is heading. It is especially nice to see Fred Allen Meyer playing competitive golf again after a 17 month hiatus, and I love that boy’s grit.”
About the Lineup:
Stallings and Musselman made moves on the leaderboard to lead the way, but it was Meyer who gave a spark to the Wildcats on day two. After carding a round of 81 on day one, Meyer scored a 2-over par, 74, on day two which marked the best round of his young career. Meyer charted four birdies and was even par over the final nine holes of play.
Stallings is just one stroke off of the pace with a collective 6-under par score following a round of 4-under par, 68, on Monday. The Louisville, Ky., native nearly played flawlessly with five birdies on his round compared with just one bogey on the day. He was 2-under par on both the front and back nine. He is poised for his second top-10 finish of the year and his first-ever top-five finish. The round of 68 tied his career-low round which he set during his sophomore campaign.
Musselman charged up the leaderboard with his best round of 2015-16 with a 2-under, 70. Musselman notched four total birdies on the afternoon and sits in a tie for 14th overall. He is 2-under for the tournament with a remaining 18 holes to play.
Sophomore Tyler ‘Chip’ McDaniel continued his steady play with a solid round of an even-par, 72. McDaniel leads the team with 10 par or better rounds this season and continued that stretch of play with today’s round.
Meyer was joined by senior David Snyder with rounds of 74 during today’s 18 holes of action. Snyder sits in a tie for 39th overall with a two-round combined score of 2-over par. Meyer is in a tie for 65th after his improved play on day two.
Kentucky also has three players suiting up as individuals on the Ocean Course. Freshman Lukas Euler is tied for fourth through two rounds with an even-par score. He shot a round of 72 on day one and followed with a 2-under, 70, on Monday. Sophomore Chris Meuth and freshman Jalen Ledger are both tied for 10th overall with a combined 3-over, 145, score.
Alabama continues to lead the field after day two with a 13-under par combined score. Clemson and Georgia are tied for second and sit just one stroke off the Crimson Tide. North Carolina has an 11-under par score and sits in fourth overall.
Kentucky is tied at 7-under with Georgia Tech and Oklahoma to round out the top five.
