Harrison Eighth in 60H World Indoor Final
Kentucky alum Kendra Harrison advanced to her first final at a IAAF World Indoor Championships inside the Oregon Convention Center on Friday.
Perhaps she came away disappointed with her eighth-place finish after coming out of the blocks well, but hitting the first hurdle and being unable to maintain her signature smooth speed over the remaining barriers in the final. She was the top-qualifier in the semifinal heats, running 7.81.
Harrison hasn’t even been pro for a full 12 months, and has qualified on the notoriously difficult to make United States team for two World Championships in the last seven months. She now has experience in a World-Championship final to go along with two USATF Silver Medals.
Kentucky alum Rondel Sorrillo made the World Indoor 60m semifinals competing for Trinidad and Tobago, placing sixth in the semifinal (6.68). He didn’t advance
