Men’s basketball: Following a remarkable run to the Final Four, the Kentucky men’s basketball team finished the season ranked No. 3 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll. UK moved all the way up from No. 10 with the NCAA Tournament run. National champion Connecticut was ranked No. 1, followed by national runner-up Butler at No. 2. The Associated Press does not release a final poll.
Softball: Rachel Lawson thought her team would only move up a couple of spots in the rankings after a sweep of then-No. 5 Florida, but it turns out the Cats received more respect than that. UK is ranked No. 18 in both the ESPN.com/USA Collegiate Top 25 and the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll. The rankings are the highest in school history. Kentucky will face No. 2 Georgia this weekend in Athens, Ga. UK is No. 20 in the NCAA’s RPI.
Men’s tennis: UK’s first win over Florida in Gainesville, Fla., since 1992 has moved the tennis team up to No. 12 in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. Singles and doubles rankings come out every other week.
