With the national backlash reaching a tipping point, Bob Knight apologized Tuesday for comments he made over the weekend regarding the academics of the 2009-10 Kentucky men’s basketball team.

Knight’s apology was posted on ESPN.com. The former Indiana coach is currently employed as a commentator for ESPN.

“My overall point is that ‘one and dones’ are not healthy for college basketball,” Knight said. “I should not have made it personal to Kentucky and its players and I apologize.”

In case you haven’t seen it yet, here is what Knight said over the weekend, along with a response from Kentucky Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart.
