Kentucky Sits in 11th, One Round Remains at Mason Rudolph
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – In breezy conditions at Vanderbilt Legends Club (par 71, 7112 yards) on Saturday, Kentucky men’s golf totaled a 13-over par team score in round two of the Mason Rudolph Championship, leaving the Wildcats in 11th place heading into tomorrow’s final round.
UK stands at 20-over par for the tournament through 36 holes. The field consists of 14 teams, plus an exhibition “B” squad for the host, Vanderbilt.
Freshman Cole Stockard continues to lead the way for the Cats, tied for 21st on the leaderboard at 1-over par total. Stockard was 3-over par on his second round which included four birdies. The native of Dalton, Georgia ranks inside the top 10 in the field in total birdies with eight for the tournament thus far.
Jacob Settles is tied for 33rd, also shooting a 74 (+3) in round two. Beginning play on the back nine, the sophomore went out in 1-under par on his opening nine holes before going 4-over on his final nine.
Senior captain Jack Schoenberger had the low round of the day for Kentucky, signing for a 2-over par, 73, which leaves the Alpharetta, Georgia native tied for 46th at 6-over par. Schoenberger totaled four birdies on Saturday, bouncing back from a pair of double-bogeys in his first four holes by playing his final 14 holes in 2-under par.
Luke Coyle provided the fourth counting score for Kentucky with a round of 76 (+5), leaving the junior tied for 59th in a field of 81 players.
Jacob Lang is tied for 65th at 10-over on the tournament after carding a 77 (+6) in round two.
Cameron Phillips, UK’s individual competitor, is tied for 46th alongside Schoenberger at 6-over par. Phillips was 7-over par on his second round but made the first eagle of the week for the Wildcats with a three on No. 18 (par 5, 522 yards).
Final round tee times will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. SEC Network+ will broadcast the end of round three from 4-6 p.m. ET.
