Rifle– The Kentucky rifle team knocked off No. 1 West Virginia en route to winning the Great American Rifle Conference Regular Season Championship for a third consecutive year.- Junior Aaron Holsopple led the Wildcats in smallbore, shooting a personal best 588. – Senior Henri Junghanel shot a team best 594 in air rifle.Men’s basketball– After playing four of its last five on the road, UK returns to Rupp Arena on Tuesday to begin a two-game homestand beginning with a matchup with South Carolina.- Kentucky has won five of its last six games including a dramatic overtime thriller in College Station, Texas, on Saturday. Freshman Nerlens Noel charted a double-double with a career-high 19 points and 14 rebounds. Senior Julius Mays contributed a season-high 19 points and added a season-best four 3-pointers.Women’s basketball– No. 8/7 Kentucky dropped its only game of the week, falling to No. 14/13 Georgia in a tight contest at home, 75-71. Despite leading by eight points with 5:37 to play, Georgia stormed back with a 10-0 run and eventually took a four-point lead with 2:18 left.- The loss snapped UK’s school-record home winning streak at 34, giving the Cats their first home loss since Feb. 7, 2011.- Four players scored in double figures led by senior guard A’dia Mathies and redshirt sophomore point guard Jennifer O’Neill with 18 points apiece.Gymnastics– UK Gymnastics fell 195.875-195.25 to No. 6 LSU on Friday in Memorial Coliseum.- Audrey Harrison shared the individual all-around title with LSU’s All-American Rheagan Courville.- Harrison now has three all-around wins this season and six total individual victories this season.- Sara Shipley scored career-high 9.8s on both uneven bars and balance beam.Men’s tennis– The No. 9 Kentucky men’s tennis teams went 1-0 on the week, capturing a 4-3 win over No. 8 Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon, 4-3 as the Wildcats improved to 6-0 on the season, and knocking off their third top-25 opponent.- Kentucky again won the doubles point, as UK has now won the doubles point in all six matches this season, and has won 16 of the 18 doubles matches played.- Grant Roberts picked up the clinching match for UK, coming from behind to claim a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 win. No. 15 Tom Jomby also pick up a singles win, knocking off No. 36 Guillermo Alcorta 6-4, 7-5.Women’s tennis– The Kentucky women’s tennis team defeated Marshall 5-2 on Friday, led by early singles wins from senior Jessica Stiles and junior Caitlin McGraw.- The Wildcats fell to No. 48 Penn State on Sunday 4-3. Freshman Nadia Ravita defeated No. 27 Petra Januskova in the No. 1 singles slot in two sets to improve her collegiate career to 4-0 in singles play.- Sophomore Stephanie Fox improved her record on the year to 4-0 with a two-set win in singles play.Track and field– The Kentucky track and field teams completed the first road trip of the new year this past weekend. The Wildcats split squads between the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., and the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind.- In Nebraska Morganne Phillips took second in her first collegiate 400 meters race in 54.75.- Keith Hayes took third in the men’s 60-meter hurdles finals with 2013-best time of 7.89.- Joanne Imbert tied her personal-best 1.76m/5-09.25 to finish fourth in the women’s high jump.- Bradley Szypka took fourth with a new PR shot put mark 18.50m/60-08.50.- Kayla Parker took fourth in the women’s long jump, with a personal record 5.88m/58-08.0.- At Notre Dame Matt Hillenbrand finished sixth with a personal record 4:02.78 in the Meyo Mile.Swimming and diving– UK’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each got their second dual-meet victories of the season on Saturday over Cincinnati. The women won 158-116, while the men earned 152-115 victory.- Sophomore swimmer Sam Sheen earned three victories on Saturday. She had two individual wins in the breaststroke taking first in the 100-breaststroke (1:04.58) and 200-breaststroke (2:22.73) while also contributing in the 400-medley relay. Chris Lott was a freestyle ace for the UK men, first winning the 100-freestyle (46.19) and then took the 50-freestyle (20.92).- Junior diver Zack Peterson swept the male diving events for the first time in his career. On the 1-meter, Peterson finished with a 300.37, and on the 3-meter board, he finished with a 328.87.
