Wildcats Return to Fayetteville for NCAA Indoor Championships
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats are set for the finale of the 2026 indoor season this weekend in a return trip to Fayetteville, Ark. at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday.
11 individual Wildcats have punched their ticket to this year’s championship event, including Emmi Scales, Hannah Douglas, Sharmelle Holmes, Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera, Kemarah Howard and the 4x400m relay team on the women’s side and Theo Mudzengerere and Denzel Simusialela on the men’s team.
Six of the national qualifiers earned medals at the SEC Championships, including three gold medals from Scales, Howard and Mudzengerere, each the first conference medals of their careers.
In the final team standings at the conference championships, the Wildcats finished in fourth place on the women’s side with a total of 63 points, the team’s highest placement at the indoor championships since 2022. In the men’s final standings, Kentucky finished 12th with 18 points.
Friday’s event schedule will consist of five semifinal races for the Wildcats in the women’s 60m, 60m hurdles, 400m, 800m and the men’s 200m. Saturday’s events will conclude this year’s championships, beginning with the women’s high jump and men’s triple jump, finishing with the women’s 4x400m relay, as well as the finals for each of the remaining track events.
The NCAA Indoor Championships will begin tomorrow night, the Wildcats’ event schedule opening with Sharmelle Holmes competing in the women’s 60m semifinal at 6:35 p.m. ET.
