Jones Dismissed From Team

Senior defensive end Robert Jones has been dismissed from the Kentucky football team for violations of team rules.

“It took us awhile to get all the facts of the situation, and after deliberating, we have dismissed Robert from the team,” Coach Hal Mumme said.

Jones will be allowed to stay on scholarship in order to complete his degree, if he chooses to remain at the university, Mumme said. Mumme will have no further comment on the matter.

Jones was projected to be a starter for the Wildcats in 1998. He played in all 11 games in 1997 as a reserve end. He totaled 18 tackles, including six quarterback sacks and one additional tackle for loss.
