Wildcats defeat Ohio State, fall to Murray State.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (October 18, 1998) — The University of Kentucky rifle team split its openingweekend with a win against Ohio State on Saturday and a loss to MurrayState on Sunday.

In its season opener, Kentucky shot a combined score of 6132 to OSU’s5976. The Cats fired a 4598 in small bore and a 1534 in air rifle, while OhioState shot a 4482 in small bore and a 1494 in air rifle.

On Sunday, the Cats fell to Murray State in a close match. Murray Statefinished with a combined score of 6151, while UK came in close behind witha 6136, Murray State shot a 4627 in small bore competition and a 1524 inair rifle. The Cats fired a 4608 in small bore and a 1528 in air rifle.

On Saturday, UK seniors David Fowler and Darren Fowler shot personalbests in air rifle competition with an 1174 and an 1160, respectively. TheWildcats are back in action on Saturday, October 24 as they travel toAlabama to take on Jacksonville State.
