LEXINGTON, Ky. – UK Junior Varsity Football Drops to No. 8Georgia Military College The University of Kentucky junior varsityfootball team fell to Georgia Military, 66-34, on Thursday, Oct. 15 atCommonwealth Stadium. UK led GMC at the end of the third quarter,34-31, but quickly saw the lead diminish after the Bulldogs (6-1) scoredon their next five possessions. The Wildcats (1-3) dropped their thirdstraight game after the eighth-ranked junior college team scored 35unanswered points in the fourth quarter to rally back for the win.
“We knew we would be outmatched, playing one of the Top-10 juniorcollege teams in the nation, but we stuck with them and played hard,” UKCoach Chris Hatcher said. “We fought all the way to the fourth quarterand their depth took over”
UK’s duo quarterback attack of Mark Perryand Cory Doyle completed a combined 30 of 57 passes for 450 yards andfour touchdowns. Martez Johnson led the Wildcats in rushing yardage with47 yards on eight carries while Braxton Poitier led the team on thedefensive side with 7.5 tackles. Vince Harrison put up impressivenumbers for the Wildcats in the receiving corps, catching four passesfor 153 yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldogs rushed for a total of 452yards, while charting only 149 yards in passing.
The Wildcats willplay host to their last game of the season when they face UT-Chattanoogaon Sunday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium.
