COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 21st-ranked University of Kentucky men’s tennis team scored a big Southeastern Conference road upset on Wednesday, March 17, as the Wildcats toppled No. 11 South Carolina, 4-3. The Cats (8-3, 1-1 SEC) and Cocks (9-5, 2-2 SEC) split singles matches, 3-3, with UK’s Tomas Smid, Edo Bawono and Johan Grunditz picking up wins. The Cats claimed the deciding doubles point as the UK tandems of Johan Hesoun and Patrick Johansson and Smid and Bawono grabbed victories. The Cats will return to the courts on Sunday, March 21, when they travel to Durham, N.C., to battle the Duke Blue Devils at 1 p.m.
