RICHMOND, Va. — Sophomore Jenny Throgmorton is in first place after round one of the EKU Invitational today, leading the Lady Kats into second place.
Throgmorton shot a 39 on both the front and the back nine for a one-day total of 78. Four golfers trail her in second with 7-over-par 79s after one round.Junior Jenny Dugan is currently tied for seventh place after shooting a 9-over-par 81. Freshman Kristen Pepe is only one stroke behind Dugan, tying her for 12th place. Three UK golfers are tied for 20th: freshman Towa Okiyama, junior Chanda Day and freshman Charlotte Svennevig. All three shot an 85 in the first round.
The Lady Kats, who shot a combined 326, will try to catch first-place Illinois State, who leads with a 320. There will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. at the Arlington Golf Course in Richmond, Kentucky.
