CINCINNATI, Ohio — The University of Kentucky men’s golf team carded a final round 299 to finish ninth at the Xavier Invitational on Tuesday. The Wildcats finished the 19-team tournament with a three-round total of 881, just 13 strokes behind team-champion Eastern Michigan at 868.
Senior Jeremy Langley led the Wildcats, firing a three-over-par 216 for three rounds to finish in ninth. Ron Layman also had a strong tournament for the Cats, finishing in 18th with a 219. Wes Furnish, Ryan Rieckhoff, and Chris Mueller all finished at 229 and tied for 66th. Tristan Lewis of Georgetown and Steve Dixon of Xavier tied for first, with each carding a five-under-par 208.
The UK golfers return to action next Monday, when they travel to Louisville for the Persimmon Ridge Classic.
