LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 20th-ranked University of Kentucky men’s tennis team (16-10, 4-7) prepares for the SEC Championships at Auburn, Ala. April 16-19.
Kentucky’s first-round opponent is the host school Auburn on Thursday, April 16 at 5:30 p.m. CT. Kentucky has a 19-11 all-time series record against Auburn. The winner will advance to Friday’s match against top-ranked LSU.
UK’s senior Cedric Kauffmann, the sixth-ranked player in the nation, has an 8-2 regular season record over SEC opponents. Kentucky duo Marcus Fluitt and Johan Hesoun are the 24th-ranked doubles team in the country. Their current record is 14-14.
Format
The SEC Champion it determined by total aggregate points accumulated at the conclusion of the conference tournament. One point is awarded for each regular-season conference win. A half point is earned for a win in the first and second rounds of the conference tournament. In addition, the four seeds also received a half point for earning a first-round bye. A win in the semifinals and in finals receives one point. Kentucky has four points going into the tournament.
