DALLAS – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis tandem of Kelly Brown and Massoumeh Emami fell, 6-4, 6-4, to the nation’s 12th-ranked duo of Amanda Basica and Annica Cooper of UCLA on Thursday, Feb. 4, in opening round action at the Rolex/ITA National Indoor Tournament.
The team of Brown and Emami, the nation’s 18th-ranked pair, was one of just 16 teams invited to the tournament, the third leg of the ITA Grand Slam.
The tennis Cats return to the court on Sunday, Feb. 7, when Miami of Ohio and Tennessee-Chattanooga travel to Lexington for dual matches at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. The matches will be played in the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center on the UK campus.
